Varicose Veins on Penis

In a few rare cases, there are some people that get varicolored veins on other places besides their legs. In one such place would be the penis. Now, varicose veins on the penis are very unlikely and for many reasons. One reason would be because, usually, varicose veins only appear on legs. Another reason would be that women are much more likely to get varicose veins, and since women do not have penises, that makes the penis varicose veins a little less likely altogether. On that same note, however, you need to note that they do happen. Today we are going to talk about varicose veins on the penis and some things to watch out for.

First of all, you are much more likely to view varicose veins on an erected penis. In worse cases, you may be able to see these veins when the penis is flaccid, but yet again, that is very rare. Most of the time, when you feel the vein, you will notice that it feels kind of lumpy, but not tender to touch. Just like varicose veins in the leg, the vein is engorged in blood, and over time, has the ability to thicken. The penis varicose vein, for the most part, has proven not to be too much to worry about compared to other places people can get this vein. For example, you can get the varicose vein on breasts (appears, of course, in females). This is something that women need to have looked at right away.

Doctors, for the most part, are not able to find any concern with having varicose veins of the penis. So there are no health conditions that you have to be aware of. Also, you should note that the varicose vein does not require any treatment, which is good, because as of now, there are no herbs, creams, or lotions that you can use to get rid of these veins. They do say that, during sexual intercourse, it is a good idea to wear a condom. This can help to keep that vein from being hurt and can avoid injury.

Doctors are not really sure what causes varicose veins of the penis. However, a lot of people tend to think that small blood clots could be the reason. Usually that leads to thickening of the vein. There are a few myths that these varicose veins of the penis form because of too much masturbation or sexual activity. This, of course, is not true and will not lead to varicose veins of the penis. Some people say that trauma to the penis can cause these veins, and that has not yet been proven to be true or not true.

The only problem that you are going to have in telling if you have varicose veins of the penis is the fact that there are a lot of other conditions that mimic this one. For example, the unrelated condition known as lymphangisclerosis also looks much the same as penis varicose veins. Thus, if you are not sure if you have varicose veins on the penis, you should go get them checked by a doctor that could let you know for sure.
