Hemorrhoids (Fissura Ani, Varices)
Hemorrhoids are swollen veins in the rectum (large intestine) and around the rectum (anus). There are 2 types of hemorrhoids namely externa and interna.Hemorrhoids are the main cause of anal bleeding. Hemorrhoids are not a dangerous situation. But it is important to be distinguished from more serious causes of bleeding such as rectum cancer.
a. The symptoms
- Fresh blood on toilet paper/dirt or dripping from the rectum after removing the stool.
- Soft lumps around the rectum. Sometimes it's a big-time like a bunch of grapes.
- Feel pain when removing poop.
- Rectal itching for several reasons.
- Constipation, caused by enlargement of hemorrhoids so that clogging up the flow of feces.
b. Complications
- Heavy bleeding, anemia (this vein wall is so thin that it can easily tear and bleed).
- Infection from the referee.
- Hemorrhoid prolapse (enlargement of hemorrhoids that come out of the anus which cannot be put back into the rectum).
c. Causes
- Increased pressure on the veins around the rectum and anus is caused by straining during bowel movements, coughing, pregnancy and childbirth.
- Weakness in venous valve due to heredity,
- so that it cannot inhibit the backflow of hemorrhoid blood. This kind tends to be passed down in families.
d. What you can do
- Check with your doctor to confirm the diagnosis.
- Apply a haermorrhoid ointment or insert a suppository anal tablet for hemorrhoids (rectal tablets).
- Soak in warm water (sit in a bath filled with warm salt water to the hip limit for 15 minutes).
- Clean the rectum slowly with tissue paper moistened or cleaned with water only, without rubbing.
- Press into the hemorrhoids protruding / out slowly
- land until it enters the rectum
