Yoga and Meditation -  The word yoga is derived from Sanskrit (the language of ancient India) word 'Yuj', which means "to unite or integrate" between the mind, body and spirit.Yoga is an ancient Indian knowledge about body which people received as a heritage gift and it has ever been used as a therapeutic procedure for many abnormalities. This knowledge is more than 5000 years old which are widely being use in India.

Yoga and Meditation are considered to be the ultimate way of attaining Enlightenment and also the best alternative therapy used in the curative procedure of various complicated diseases, physical or mental. It is established fact that through the regular practice of yoga and meditation, any unpredictable and restless mind can undergo a welcome transition with magnificent results. 

Studies on yoga in the United States and India publicizes that yoga therapy is a self-empowering process, where the diseased individual practices it with the help of therapist that not only addresses the root cause of personal pain, ailment and abnormalities at the physical level, but also facilitates healing in the person at all levels of their being including their physiological, psychological and spiritual dimensions.

'Yoga sutra' of Patanjali and the'Ayurvedic system of health care describes 'Yoga' as a group of therapeutic techniques which help individuals facing health challenges at any level manage their condition, reduce symptoms, restore balance, increase vitality, and improve attitude. Yoga and meditation therapy is more effective than general yoga practice as a safe means of treating medical conditions. Yoga therapy can be performed to get rid of great variety of abnormal conditions, including anxiety, low back pain, arthritis, hypertension, heart conditions, hyperventilation, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, multiple scelorosis, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. Equally it helps to achieve positive health during pregnancy and childbirth for women.

Yoga therapy consists of 6 postulates and steps for over all well being but initially it should be performed under the direction of a yoga therapist for faster positive result. These steps are-Asanas-Right Posture, Pranayama-Right Breathing, Kriyas-Right Cleansing, Balanced Yogic Diet-Right Diet, Shavasana-Right Relaxation, MeditationRight Mindset.Sometimes Yoga therapy is performed coupled with a balanced diet, Naturopathy, Ayurveda and Aromatherapy to achieve faster and optimum benefits.

 There are some common diseases such as Diabetes, Cardiac disorders, Eyesight weakness, which can be cured through the several 'Yogicasanas' such as Shavasana (Corpse Pose), Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar) etc. Yoga excessively affects positively in some chronic diseases such as stress, constipation, low eyesight, poor memory concentration, sleeplessness and obesity. The advantages of yoga are widely accredited, not only by proponents of alternative medicine, but also by members of the conventional medical society. Mental benefits include increased skill to concentrate and relief from stress, depression and nervousness.
